Marvel is working hard to get some top acting talents for its new projects. The latest veteran star to sign on for a Marvel film is Glenn Close, who will star in Guardians of the Galaxy.

According to Deadline, Close will play the lead officer of the Nova Corp, a group of intergalactic police officers. The role is expected to be very similar to Samuel L. Jackson’s role as Nick Fury in the first Marvel films that led up to The Avengers.

Close is the latest major star attached to the project, which is directed by James Gunn and features a group of relatively unknown Marvel superheroes. Chris Pratt is signed to play the lead role of Star-Lord, while Zoe Saldana is in talks as well. Other stars on board include Lee Pace and Michael Rooker.

It’s also possible that John C. Reilly could have a part, HitFix reported earlier this week. Deadline’s report on Close’s casting does mention his name as a member of the cast.

Close is the latest acting coup for Marvel. The studio surprisingly got Robert Redford to play a role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014.

Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled for an Aug. 1, 2014 release.
