While it was clear that after all that publicity that Girl Meets World, the highly anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off, would get a series order, the Disney Channel has made it official. On Monday morning, the network ordered the pilot to go straight to series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production in Los Angeles should kick off this summer, with hopes to air the show in 2014.

In Girl Meets World, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will return as Cory and Topanga, who are now married with a daughter, Riley, who is in seventh grade. Michael Jacobs is returning to executive produce, while William Daniels will be back as Mr. Feeny in the pilot. Rowan Blanchard plays Riley and Sabrina Carpenter is her best friend.

Fans have been waiting for an official word on Girl Meets World since the project was first reported on in November 2012. Savage and Fishel later signed on to return. Actor Rider Strong didn’t say for sure if he would be bak or not, but he gave it his blessing.

“It’s the next generation. And I, for one, can’t wait to see it evolve,” Strong wrote in a blog post.

“We're not doing a Boy Meets World reunion,” Savage said in a recent TV Guide interview about the show. “It's a new show that will hopefully speak to a new generation, and I think people will get that. We're not going to mess with their memories; we're doing an entirely new thing that will hopefully help a new generation grow.”
