French actor Gerard Depardieu continues to make headlines for everything but acting. The 64-year-old actor who has worked with world-renowned directors and starred in acclaimed films was banned from driving for six months after he drove a scooter while drunk.

Depardieu was arrested back in November 2012 for driving his scooter in Paris. He had a blood alcohol level of 1.8, three times the legal limit in France.

During a court hearing, which he did not attend, on Friday in Paris, he was banned from driving for six months, reports Reuters. He was also fined 4,000 euros ($5,300). He managed to avoid the maximum drunk-driving sentence in France, which would be up to two years in prison.

Depardieu has been headline fodder for the past three years, starting with his infamous urination on a plane in 2011 that had Anderson Cooper in a fit of laughter.

Then, in August 2012, he and a driver got into a heated argument after he hit the man’s car with his scooter. The altercation resulted in the driver accusing him of assault.

In December, he criticized France’s Socialist government for the high taxes forced on the wealthy and he turned in his French passport. He then moved to Belgium and was granted Russian citizenship.

Depardieu has been in over 100 movies and remains one of France’s most famous actors. Unfortunately for him, it has not been because of his work on the big screen lately.
