Treasury Secretary Jack Lew was named Timothy Geithner’s successor in January and since then many have been itching to see if he would change his loopy signature just for currency, since his signature has to appear on every new bill made during his tenure. The Treasury debuted his new signature, which looks a bit more legible than his old one.

When Lew was appointed, his signature was mocked by everyone, including President Obama. “I considered rescinding my offer to appoint him,” after he saw the signature, Obama joked during the press conference. He added that he would order Lew to “make at least one letter legible in order to not debase our currency should he be confirmed as secretary of the Treasury.”

Then in May, ABC News reported that Lew did just that. He began morphing his old signature (which looked like the icing on top of a Hostess cupcake) into a signature where you can at least make out a “J” and an “L.”

The Treasury used Twitter today to unveil what his signature will look like on a dollar bill. While it does look neater, Lew did get to keep at least one loop in his last name.

Now that Lew has solved his signature problem, hopefully he can go back to working on the economy.
