Christian Bale is done playing Batman, so we can stop asking him if he can be persuaded to don the cape and cowl for a potential Justice League movie.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bale said that he was lucky to be in three Batman movies already and he doesn’t have the desire to make any more. He also said that no one from Warner Bros. has even approached him about a Justice League movie.

“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” Bale said. He said that director Christopher Nolan “said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’” He added, “We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”

Bale further explained that he has “literally not had a conversation with a living soul” about Justice League.

Bale has explained several times that he and Nolan will not be involved in a Justice League movie, but rumors persisted.

As for development on the DC universe in films, Man of Steel is being used as the launching pad, not The Dark Knight trilogy, which will stand on its own. According to Indiewire, Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer told Bleeding Cool in June that Superman will be the first hero in this world, not Batman. Superman is the spark that inspires the superheroes to come out.

Goyer also told HeyUGuys that the Bruce Wayne in Man of Steel’s universe is different than the Dark Knight Bruce.

So, that’s it. Christian Bale is not going to be in a Justice League movie. End of story.
