Jay-Z finally scored his first No. 1 album in the U.K. with Magna Carta Holy Grail.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Official Charts Company, which tracks album sales in the U.K., said that Magna Carta Holy Grail beat out Rod Stewart’s Time, which is still dominating the charts in Stewart’s home country.
Passenger’s All The Little Lights, Michael Buble’s To Be Loved and Mumford & Sons’ Babel rounded out the Top 5. The Official Charts company did not release details on the number of copies sold.
Billboard reports that Jay had never had a solo album reach any higher than No. 4 on the U.K. charts. His 2009 release Blueprint III reached No. 4. Watch The Throne with Kanye West reached No. 3 last year.
Jay was in London over the weekend, performing at the Wireless Festival Saturday night with Justin Timberlake, reports NME. He performed songs from the new album, telling fans, “You could have been anywhere else in the world tonight and you chose here, we appreciate that.”
Analysts predict that Magna Carta Holy Grail sold as much as 500,000 copies in its first week, notes Billboard. The magazine releases its final numbers on Wednesday. You can check out our review of the album here.
