Jenny McCarthy is said to be in “serious” considering to join fellow co-hosts Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Whoppi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd on The View following Joy Behar’s exit later this summer.
Sources tell Us Weekly that the 40-year-old frequent View guest co-host is “in serious talks right now,” noting, "Her show isn't quite working out, so she's definitely open to it."
The ABC hit talk show is expecting to see a shift in hosting this fall. Following Behar’s announcement that she will not return, Walters confirmed that she is ready to retire. Rumors of a potential firing plagued Hasselbeck, but Walters was quick to diffuse the rumors stating that the reports were not true.
However, last month Shepherd seemed to have suffered a slip of the tongue during her visit to The Wendy Williams Show when she said, “The two black women are left. Usually they kill us off in the beginning,” referring to herself and fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg. Shepherd was quick to backtrack, stating that the controversial Hasselbeck “would be back.”
Us Weekly reports that actress Brooke Shields is currently in the talks to join the show as well, as a potential replacement for Hasselbeck.
