A judge has dismissed three sexual molestation lawsuits against Kevin Clash, who famously voiced Elmo, because they waited too long to file them.
The three lawsuits, filed by Cecil Singleton, Kevin Kiadii and an unidentified third accuser, were filed in federal court in New York but they were thrown out by the judge presiding over the case.
According to TMZ, the judge deemed the lawsuits were not valid because the statute of limitations says the accusers only had three years after they turned 18 to file the complaint or it wasn’t upheld in court. For example, Singleton filed it last year when he was 23.
The first accuser, Sheldon Stephens, recanted his story that he had sex with Clash when he was 16 years old but he later said he wanted to undo the $125,000 settlement.
Clash has since resigned from voicing the character of Elmo on Sesame Street and denies any wrongdoing from any of the multiple sexual molestation accusers.
