The wife of Secretary of State John F. Kerry, Teresa Heinz Kerry, 74, was taken to a hospital in Nantucket, Massachusetts by ambulance for an unspoken medical emergency.

Heinz Kerry and her husband were on vacation in Nantucket Island when she had an episode of some sort and had to be taken to the hospital around 4 p.m.

According to Washington Post, their family spokesperson spoke with anonymity and would not specify what her medical emergency was.

Noah Brown, a spokesperson for Nantucket Cottage Hospital where Heinz Kerry was sent, said she was in critical but stable condition. He would not specify what her medical problem was either.

Heinz Kerry is the widow of former senator John Heinz, who is heir to the ketchup fortune. Her and Kerry married in 1995 in Nantucket. She does not have any known medical problems except being treated for breast cancer in 2009, but doctors later found the lump in her breast to be malignant.

CBS News reports that Heinz Kerry has been flown to a hospital in Boston for further medical treatment.
