The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated thriller The Counselor finally hit the web on Wednesday. The crime drama is the first original screenplay by novelist Cormac McCarthy, the writer of The Road and No Country for Old Men.

In the trailer, fans get a taste of Michael Fassbender, who is the lead in the film and gets involved with drug trafficking. Penelope Cruz and her husband, Javier Bardem also star in the film, along with Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt. This project could be boost for Diaz, who has more recently taken on roles in comedies. The Counselor looks to be as far from a comedy as possible.

In June, a short teaser surfaced, initially in Russian but was later released in English. Before today’s release, Fox 2000 did post three clips with full scenes.

The Counselor is scheduled for release on Oct. 25. The cast also includes John Leguizamo, Natalie Dormer and Dean Norris. It is Scott’s follow-up to Prometheus, which also featured Fassbender.
