Eminem may not have been at the Barclay’s Center last night for the highly discussed MTV Video Music Awards, but the rapper still managed to stir conversation by announcing his latest album via a commercial.
According to New York Daily News, the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones commercial aired live Sunday announcing the release of MMLP2, (Marshall Mathers LP2.) The commercial is filled with a guitar influenced, Eminem rap which promotes the upcoming album.
The song featured in the commercial is “Berzerk” and although fans have only a 16 second preview, Daily News notes that fans will get more of a taste on Tuesday when the track is available for listening.
The commercial and his website announce that the album will be released November 5, just ahead of Lady Gaga’s Artpop.
Eminem proudly announced the surprise on Twitter writing, “Guess who's REALLY back? #VMAs .”
He followed with an Instagram of him standing in front of a giant boom box.
