James DiMaggio, a California Amber Alert suspect, has most likely been spotted in Idaho, along with his sixteen-year-old captive, Hannah Anderson.

Horseback riders caught sight of the pair on Wednesday, but only called police after seeing news reports later that day. The two were reported carrying backpacks and a tent.

Investigators on the scene soon found DiMaggio's abandoned Nissan Versa. The license plates had been removed, but authorities were able to identify the car's ownership by the vehicle identification number, CNN reports.

Sheriff Bill Gore said the car was found in the backwoods River of No Return area near Cascade, Idaho.

DiMaggio is suspected in the death of Christina Anderson, the mother of Hannah and eight-year-old Ethan. Anderson was found in the burned down home of DiMaggio in San Diego on Sunday.

A body of a child was also found at the site, but was so badly burned that it is not yet certain if it is the body of young Ethan Anderson, USA Today says.

DiMaggio had been a close friend of the family. Hannah's friends have revealed the man known as "Uncle Jim" may have developed a crush on Hannah.

Brett Anderson, Hannah's father, has begged DiMaggio to let his daughter go. He says, "You've taken everything else."
