We often take for granted simple things; getting an oil change is one. What we don't take for granted is outstanding service. We got just that - and then some - at Pep Boys in Baldwin, N.Y.
Pep Boys is probably the largest chain of automotive service stores with more than 760 shops across the country. Each store speaks for itself, but our recent visit to their Baldwin location for an oil change will have us coming back.
The wait was a little longer than we would have liked but it was well worth it because the service provided was outstanding. In addition to an oil change we wanted to get some routine maintenance done to our car. We had several questions for the technician who responded to each of them completely, honestly and satisfactorily. He really knew his stuff about cars and wasn't trying to tack on more work (and cost) than necessary.
One issue we had was with our car's entertainment system. Our technician not only pointed out the root of the problem but he also provided a printout of recalls on our system we weren't even aware of! Instead of forking over hundreds of dollars to repair the radio (something some other less scrupulous mechanic would have been delighted to charge us for) we were able to take our car's radio back to the dealer for an exchange.
