If you like Cate Blanchett’s voice, just imagine what it will sound like coming from giant IMAX speakers as images of the South Pacific splash across the giant screen. The Oscar-winning actress signed on to narrate Journey To The South Pacific, a new documentary from Greg MacGillivray.
MacGillivray Freeman Films produced the movie, which will be only released in IMAX theaters on Nov. 27, notes The Hollywood Reporter. It tells the story of the West Papua and the wildlife on land and underwater.
“In Journey to the South Pacific, Greg MacGillivray's incredible imagery coupled with Cate Blanchett's compelling voice will transport audiences to the heart of the South Pacific as only IMAX can,” IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to build on our legacy of delivering high-quality documentaries that entertain and inspire moviegoers around the world with our longtime partners at MacGillivray Freeman.”
Blanchett scored an Oscar win for her supporting role in The Aviator as Katherine Hepburn. Her other credits include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit films, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Babel. She can currently be seen in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine.
Her upcoming projects include Cinderella and Todd Haynes’ Carol.
