Dakota Fanning will join forces with Theo James for an indie project called Franny. Richard Gere is also attached to star in the project.

The film will be directed by Andrew Franzi, with production starting on Oct. 21 in Philadelphia, reports Zap2It. Fanning and James will play Olivia and Luke, a couple who change that life of Gere’s character.

According to Deadline, Franzi wrote the script, which he developed at the 2013 Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Based on his IMDb profile, this will be his feature debut, as he only has shorts on his directing resume.

It’s interesting that Gere is taking a part in another indie project from a first-time director. In 2012, the veteran star appeared in Nicholas Jarecki’s acclaimed feature debut, Arbitrage.

As for Fanning, she has also been taking part in indie projects. The former child star recently appeared in Night Moves and The Last of Robin Hood. Her next project is Every Secret Thing by Amy Berg.

James is on the cusp of becoming a big star. Although his CBS series Golden Boy was cancelled after one season, he does appear in the young adult novel adaptation Divergent. His other films include Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger and Underworld: Awakening.
