A homeless Boston man returned a Chinese visitor's lost backpack over the weekend, that contained $42,000 and was honored by the police for this good deed.

The man, Glen James, was homeless for many years but he decided to flag down a police officer on Saturday after finding the bag at South Bay Center in Dorchester, MA.

"Even if I were desperate for money, I would not have kept even a ... penny of the money I found," Glen James said, according to Boston Globe.

James said he worked for a courthouse for 13 years before losing his job. He became homeless in 2005.

Police Commissioner Edward Davis was impressed by James's actions. A Virginia man began an online campaign Monday to raise $50,000 to donate to James due to his honorable deed.

"I read the article about it, and I was like ‘I heard about GoFundMe.com,’ and I haven’t dealt with it so much, but it seemed like a great opportunity to help someone out,” said Ethan Whittington, stated Boston Magazine.

Whittington is trying to raise tens of thousands of dollars to donate to James.
