Jeff Bridges agrees - R.I.P.D. stunk. The Oscar winning actor spoke about the expensive summer box office flop in a new interview, admitting that he thought the final product was “underwhelming.”

The actor spoke with GQ about plenty of happier topics (and the profile reveals that Bridges does, in fact, say “Far out man!” often), but when the topic of his most recent film came up, he turned serious.

R.I.P.D. reportedly cost over $130 million to make, but grossed just $12.5 million in its opening weekend. The Ryan Reynolds-starring film wound up making just $33 million domestically.

“I had such a great time working on that movie,” the Crazy Heart actor said. “I remember what we were doing. I thought: This could be fun to see. And when I saw it, I was a little underwhelmed. For my mind, the studio made some, uh, choices that I wouldn't have made.”

Bridges added that he wasn’t too surprised that the film flopped. He came up with a horse racing analogy for the box office. “And you're rooting for your horse. And in this case, the jockey fell off the horse and you came in last. Ha ha ha. You know. That happens sometimes,” he added.

Bridges is currently working on a few more films, including an adaptation of The Giver.
