Lady Pamela Hicks, who is the first cousin of Prince Phillip, gave some jabs to the late Princess Diana while promoting her new memoir Daughter of Empire: Life as a Mountbatten.
The royal spoke to Vanity Fair and called the People’s Princess “really spiteful” towards her ex-husband Prince Charles, with whom she had Prince William and Prince Harry with.
"She had enormous charisma, she was beautiful, she was very good at empathy with the general crowd. [But] she had no feeling at all for her husband or his family. Quite the reverse!" she quipped.
She went on to say about the end of Diana, who died at age 36 in a car crash, and Prince Charles’s 15-year marriage, “She was really spiteful, really unkind to [Charles]--and, my God, he's a man who needs support and encouragement."
She continued, "[The marriage] absolutely destroyed him. He looked grey and ghost-like," adding, "Now of course he's blossomed again." She’s referring to his new marriage to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who Prince Charles allegedly had an affair with during his marriage to Diana.
"She made everybody believe she’d been thrown to the wolves. Such nonsense! She was given the Queen’s favorite lady-in-waiting, Sue Hussey, to help her, to teach her,” said Lady Pamela, Us Weekly reports.
"But she didn't want to be told anything . .. Instead, she wanted to listen to her music and go disco-ing or to some jive concert."
Diana was well received amongst the public, and Lady Pamela said as a result, she “didn't try."
"She had no need to try because she saw the people admired her, then they admired her more. She reckoned she was the star."
