Locke has landed a U.S. distribution deal with A24 Films after being showed during the Toronto International Film Festival

The Hollywood Reporter, who had the exclusive, reports that the Tom Hardy movie is the first to receive a major deal at TIFF. The deal was closed early Saturday morning between IM Global, CAA and A24.

The movie was not shown at the festival as it couldn't secure a screening for reasons unknown, but rather in Toronto during TIFF. IM Global had to set up several more screenings than anticipated since the first one filled up.

Deadline reports that the movie was also played at the Venice Film Festival before the buyer's screening during TIFF.

According to THR, the Steven Knight directed Locke is about a man whose life, in the course of a single car ride, comes undone. The movie takes place entirely in the car, over 90 minutes.

IM Global's CEO Stuart Ford commented after the deal, "A24 is exactly the right kind of ballsy, innovative distributor that an astonishing film like 'Locke' needs."

The director Knight was the creator of the show Who Wants To Be A Millionare and has writing credits for Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises.
