The trailer for the Aaron Eckhart vehicle I, Frankenstein has been released and, while it’s not usually a good idea to judge a whole film by its trailer, it looks pretty bad.

The film has been in the works since October 2011, when Eckhart (The Dark Knight) was cast in the film to play Frankenstein’s stitched-together monster, Adam, who awakens 200 years after the events of Mary Shelley's novel. He finds his way into a battle between two immortal clans, and, as seen in today’s trailer, suddenly has martial arts skills and an entire arsenal of weapons at his disposal.

I, Frankenstein also stars Chuck’s Yvonne Strahovski and Bill Nighy. It is directed by Scott Beattie and based on the comics by Kevin Grevioux.

Lionsgate has played around with the film’s release date and the trailer really shows why. It’s filled with a lot of action and explosives and pretty poor CGI. It was once supposed to come out in February and then September before finally being given a Jan. 24 slot.
