This busy mom certainly never leaves the house without Band-Aids in my purse. We have a first aid kit at home as well as one in the car. You just never know. It was my pleasure to cover a story on Band-Aid products and the 125th Anniversary of the First Aid Kit.

The first ever First Aid Kit came to our world by Johnson and Johnson founder Robert Wood Johnson in the late 1880's. The first kit was designed to treat the injuries sustained by train track layer's injuries; from there the First Aid Kit began to evolve into different varieties to treat all sorts of injuries. "Autokits" and "Aerokits" were developed to fit the custom needs of drivers and pilots. The 1920's brought about Earle Dickson's invention of the Band-Aid, and just like that were on store shelves and in First Aid Kits. The 1950's and 60's brought about the first ever "designer" band-aids (or character band-aids as my children call them), while the 1970's and 80's brought us the further innovation of antibiotic treated band-aids and the founding of "Safe Kids Worldwide"organization committed to preventing injuries in children. The scientific advance of the 2000's brought about one of my favorite products the "Neo To Go" antiseptic pain relieving spray (a MUST in my pocket book)and Cynthia Rowley's designer bandages which I am actually sporting one of as I write this piece (cupcakes and Jaime apparently had a fight last night).

In celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the First Aid Kit, Johnson & Johnson The Everyday Care Campaign begins their partnership with "Safe Kids Worldwide" to provide information to us all on the importance of childhood injury prevention. We, the consumer can also help: with three or more purchases of first aid products, we will receive a free first aid kit bag. With every redemption of the first aid kit bag, Topical Healthcare Brands will donate to Safe Kids Worldwide. It could not be more simple: we create custom kits to protect our families and end up contributing to the protection of others.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is proud to have joined the campaign and is happy to celebrate the anniversary while helping to ensure that all families have access to the important first aid information and have these items in their homes.

Thank you to Johnson & Johnson for this wonderful campaign and the ever important information to keep all of our loved ones safe. And I must say; my designer band-aid really does match my outfit today....
