Singer/actress Katharine McPhee is reportedly feeling ‘embarrassed’ since her affair with Smash director Michael Morris went public. Although she is separated from her spouse, the same was not the case with Morris, who was still living with his spouse, that is until Mary McCormack found out.
Sources for Us Weekly confirmed earlier reports that McPhee, 29, and her husband of five years, Nick Cokas, 47, have been separated for at least six months. Once source said that since the split, McPhee “has had friends living with her for months.”
“She is SO embarrassed she was caught,” another source told the magazine. “She should have known better!”
McPhee and Morris were caught when TMZ published several photos of the two kissing in public in Los Angeles. It was then reported by the New York Post that when McCormack found out, she threw him out of their Encino house.
“Mary threw Michael out of the house on Sunday night when he told her that TMZ had the photos and that they were about to be released,” a source told the Post.
McCormack appeared on In Plain Sight. Morris directed her brother Will McCormack in Brothers & Sisters and McPhee in seven episodes of NBC’s Smash. He directed the series finale.
Before appearing in Smash, McPhee was an American Idol runner-up.
