Paul McCartney appeared on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his new album, appropriately titled New. The two chatted about the album cover and other topics and, just like he did for Jimmy Kimmel, the former Beatle performed as well.
While chatting with Fallon, McCartney explained how he and his team came up with the cover for New, which features fluorescent lights spelling out the album’s title. He explained that it’s a tribute to Dan Flavin, who was famous for using fluorescent lights as art.
As Fuse.tv reports, McCartney takes credit for the “selfie,” as Fallon shows off some great photos of McCarntey. Fallon tests the 71-year-old’s memory with images from his Beatle days.
There was also an incredibly hilarious sketch with Fallon and McCartney bumping into one another and “swapping” accents. Fallon is excited that he can now say anything with a Liverpool accent, but McCartney is less enthused about sounding like Fallon.
McCartney’s New album hits stores on Oct. 15. He also performed for Kimmel last month.
