Valerie Harper has ended her inspiring stint on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. The former Rhoda star, 74, was voted off on this week’s episode.
Harper and her partner Tristan MacManus were voted off the show in Week 4, getting a score of 18 for their waltz on Monday.
"It has been absolutely wonderful, completely unique, like nothing else in the world," Harper said after the elimination, People reports. "It's really a great thing to get out and dance!"
Her partner added, "I feel like I've been very lucky."
Harper, who was diagnosed with cancer in January and revealed it publicly in March, also said doing the show was an opportunity for her “to carry a message to folks, not just with cancer, but with whatever challenge, like our song tonight — carry on, carry on.”
In late August, Harper and her neruo-oncologist Dr. Jeremy Rudnick sat down for an interview with the Today Show’s Meredit Vieira and gave a health update.
“I'd say that we're getting pretty close to a remission,” said Rudnick. “It defies the odds.”
“Going from having three months to live, or less; we're into our sixth month, and now there's even hope beyond right now we're looking at...” said Harper’s husband Tony Cacciotti. “We're looking at Christmas!” she added.
