While fans of the Hunger Games franchise are getting ready for the sequel to hit theaters, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth are opening up about their characters fighting over Jennifer Lawrence’s character.
Hutcherson plays Peeta while Hemsworth plays Gale and in Catching Fire, they compete for Lawrence’s Katniss’ love.
Hutcherson told Daily News of their differences, “I don’t necessarily think that ‘Team Peeta’ is the right choice. I feel like Peeta has the more kind of sensitive, artistic listener side. And Gale is more protector/provider/caretaker type. If I were Katniss, I don’t know who I would choose.”
Meanwhile Hemsworth talks about where they’re similar: “All Peeta is trying to do is protect her and keep her alive and that’s all Gale wants as well.”
He added, “What Gale knows is — as hard as it is to watch someone he cares deeply about fall in love with someone else — he really does care about her.”
In Catching Fire, both actors get to kiss Lawrence, which Hemsworth calls “unnatural.” He added, “you just have to let it go.”
