A Staten Island couple, Frank Chiaramonte and Alyssa Simeone, got engaged in a touching way this week. Chiaramonte, who was diagnosed with cancer just six months into their relationship, proposed in a New Springville Best Buy with the help of family and friends.

Chiaramonte, an Advocacy Advocate for the Staten Island chapter of the American Cancer Society, brought Simeone to Best Buy and told her they were shopping for a new television.

While they were weighing their options, photos of the couple popped up on the big screens, Pix11 reports. The couple of two years’ family and friends then started coming out from behind the TVs with balloons and cheers. The song “Marry Me” by Train was playing in the background and the words “Will You Marry Me?” appeared on the screens.

The groom-to-be works for the New York City Housing Authority and says his now-fiance frequently volunteers with him at American Cancer Society events.

NY Mag notes Chiaramone told the Staten Island Advance he wanted a “proposal that was different.”

"I went to Times Square and they weren't able to do it, and when I went to Best Buy they were happy to do it for no charge," he said. “Now, in the future, when we drive by Best Buy we will always remember it.”
