A lot of rappers have found other interests and other ways to put food on the table besides selling albums, selling out concerts and selling merchandise. One thing that is common for a lot of rappers has been guest appearing on television shows and even movies. Some have even become actors and haven't put out new music lately.
Eminem made major moves when he appeared in the movie 8 Mile. In this movie, he starred as a young white rapper named Jimmy “B-Rabbit” Smith Jr. who tried to make it in the rap game in the 1990s — which was heavily dominated by African Americans — while dealing with struggles at home. The film was a success, and he earned awards such as the Academy Award for “Best Original Song” for “Lose Yourself.”
Legend Tupac (rest in peace) also made a huge name for himself on the big screen with movies such as Juice and Above The Rim.
Female rapper Eve had some success with acting, taking a role in the popular Barbershop films which featured Ice Cube as well. She also appeared on a couple episodes of Glee and Single Ladies. Besides that, she can be seen in other movies such as Charlie’s Angels, The Cookout and Bounty Killer.
10: 50 Cent
Since 2005, 50 Cent has gotten his face on the big screen with guest roles in The Simpsons, Entourage and his own reality show, 50 Cent: The Money and the Power. He has also starred in movies such as Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which was based on his life, Home of the Brave, Righteous Kill, Twelve, All Things Fall Apart and more.
