Winter storms that spent much of late last week hitting the West Coast of the United States is now heading east, which threatens the plans of anyone traveling before the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday.
According to CNN, those trying to fly out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport are already suffering from the winter storms. On Sunday almost 300 flights were canceled and about 200 were canceled on Monday. The airport "pre-canceled" many of the flights in preparation for the storm.
National Weather Service has said that the storms will travel up towards the Northeast once it's finished harassing the South. "This is not Texas weather, man," Ron Taylor, a driver, told a CNN affiliate. "This is Alaska, or Idaho."
Heavy winds and 20 degree below normal temperatures are expected to hit the East Coast through Thursday. According to the Los Angeles Times, NWS meteorologist Dennis Cain said, "This is more of a January, February-type weather event."
Cain added, "It's not rare, but it's not very common either."
AccuWeather senior meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski forecast "Substantial snow" across "the spine of the Appalachians to the St. Lawrence Valley and far northern New England" for Wednesday.
The winter storms have already been the cause of several deaths in the Midwest and West Coast. Three were killed in California on Saturday, two from electrocution and another from crashing into a tree." AP has reported that three died in Texas, one in New Mexico and one in Arizona.
