Word of advice to all teens: if you’re going to break the law, don’t brag about it on social media.
Los Angeles cops have arrested at least 16 teenagers involved in the break in and theft of a La Habra Heights Mansion. More than half of those arrested were minors.
On November 23, the kids noticed the home owner was out of town and decided to throw a backyard party, sending invites via Twitter. However, according to NY Daily News, the party quickly moved inside the mansion. While inside they stole at least $1 million in goods, including a stuffed leopard worth $250,000.
After a two-week investigation the cops arrested the group of students, which included three 18-year-olds, on suspicion of burglary and trespassing. Many of the teenagers had posted pictures from the party to social media which aided the police in their apprehension. "They were actually bragging about the party, showing themselves within the residence, showing themselves carrying some of the stolen property," Sheriff's Capt. Tim Murakami told reporters according to CNN.
The stuffed leopard was recovered when arrests were made, but police are still searching for a number of other items that were stolen from the ransacked home.
