Director J.C. Chandor continues to draw top shelf talent for his films, even though his career is relatively young. After working with Kevin Spacey on Margin Call and Robert Redford on All Is Lost, Chandor seemed poised to work with Javier Bardem on A Most Violent Year. However, Bardem is out, but Inside Llewyn Davis star Oscar Isaac is in.

Chandor said last night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards that he should finally get a chance to work with Isaac, who he has had chats with throughout this year’s film festival circuit, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Both are Oscar hopefuls, as Chandor could get nominated for All Is Lost and Isaac for Llewyn Davis.

The director told Chandor that A Most Violent Year could start shooting as soon as next month in New York and Participant Media will finance. Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain is attached to co-star in the period film.

Back in June, Bardem was reportedly set to star in A Most Violent Year, but THR notes that he had disagreements over the script and left the project.

TheWrap reports that Isaac hasn’t officially signed on yet, though. Stanley Tucci, who appeared in Margin Call is in talks for a supporting part, the site adds.

Isaac plays the title character in the Coen Brothers’ Llewyn Davis, which won the top prize that Gotham awards. Like Chandor, he is also a rising star, especially after his performance in Drive with Ryan Gosling.
