Some members of the Academy were completely turned off by Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and reportedly made it very clear during a screening on Saturday.
A new report states that the director was screamed at by an outraged screenwriter, one of the members of the Academy. “Shame on you!” the screenwriter is rumored to have told Scorsese, due to the immoral and colorful film based on Jordan Belfort 2007 memoir.
The fight was revealed by ‘60s actress, Hope Holiday, who seems to represent some of the older members of the Academy who are often repulsed by the nature of newer movies, Vanity Fair notes.
She wrote on Facebook that the screening was “three hours of torture,” adding, “same disgusting crap over and over again---after the film they had a discussion which a lot of us did not stay for--the elevator doors opened and Leonardo D. Martin S. and a few others got out then a screen writer ran over to them and started screaming--shame on you –disgusting.”
Paramount confirmed to The Wrap that someone did give Scorsese and the film’s star, Leonardo DiCpario, “a negative comment” but denies there was any yelling.
