There are hundreds, maybe thousands of jelly bean flavors but the newest one takes the cake. Would you eat a beer-flavored jelly bean?
The famed Jelly Belly has announced that after years of requests from consumers, they’ve finally created a jelly bean that tastes like beer.
According to The Telegraph, it has taken Jelly Belly three years to finalize the beer-flavored candy and it doesn’t contain alcohol. They say it should smell reminiscent of bread, and taste like wheat with a note of sweetness.
This isn’t the first time Jelly Belly has created an alcohol-inspired jelly bean. There have been flavors based on popular cocktails, without the alcohol, like Piña Colada, Margarita and Mojitos.
The company has a Mai-Tai flavor, as well as popular cocktail flavors like Blackberry Brandy and Strawberry Daiquiri.
Despite backlash from mothers who think the kid-friendly product will give their children an acquired taste for beer, the brand’s vice president of marketing told Today.com, “Our fans have been asking for a beer Jelly Bean for years. It took a few years to perfect, but we think we got it right.”
There are, of course, mixed responses of this new flavor and they've taken to Twitter to show it.
A beer flavored #JellyBelly? No. Unless it's a jelly bean that can get me drunk, I want no part of it.
