Actor Johnny Depp will be the first to receive the Distinguished Artisan Award, presented to him by the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild.

The Wrap reports that guild president, Susan Cabral-Ebert, announced that Depp would be the recipient on Monday.

"Make-up and hair artisans agree that Johnny Depp is a wonderful selection to receive our first Distinguished Artisan Award," Cabral-Ebert said. "He, probably more than any other actor working today, uses the skills of our members to delineate his characters."

Depp will receive the honor at the guilds first ceremony in 10 years on Feb 15 at the Paramount Studios.

The award will honor Depp's ability to bring all of his interesting characters to life, including his most recent role as the Native-American warrior, Tonto, in Disney's Lone Ranger. He will be presented the award by one of his Oscar winning make-up artists, Joel Harlow.

Harlow worked with Depp in Mortdecai, Into the Woods, Transcendence, The Lone Ranger, Dark Shadows, and two Pirates of the Caribbean films.

"Depp has constantly been an outstanding supporter of our crafts, ultimately respectful and appreciative of our members' abilities and generous with his creative collaboration," Cabral-Ebert said. "A great artist himself, he allows others to shine."

Hello Magazine reports that Depp will be doing some presenting of his own at the Beatles Tribute concert on Feb. 9. The concert celebrates the Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show 50 years ago.

Other stars to make appearances include Sean Penn, Tom Hanks, and performances from Katy Perry, John Mayer, Keith Urban, Alicia Keys, Pharell Williams, and Stevie Wonder.
