A suspect is in police custody after an 18-year-old German charity worker accused him of raping her while she was traveling on an Indian train.

According to Time, the teen was allegedly raped after falling asleep on a train heading to Chennai from Mangalore, where she was going to do volunteer work with a charity.

The Hindustan Times reported that police arrested 22-year-old Chandan Kumar after the teen accused him of the alleged crime.

“We picked up the Bihari youth within 24 hours of receiving the complaint.
At present he is under our custody and we will conduct an identification parade before remanding him in judicial custody,” said Seema Aggarwal, inspector general of police, government railway police, Tamil Nadu.

This is the second reported sex attack on tourists in just two weeks and another instance of India’s growing problem of sex crimes against women.

Yesterday, it was reported that a Danish woman was gang raped in New Delhi after she asked a group of men for directions.
