Thursday night was the first night that most of the networks aired new episodes in prime time. CBS easily won though, thanks to The Big Bang Theory’s return. Community came back on NBC and, despite the anticipation of a rebooted series, the show somehow returned with lower numbers.
Starting over at CBS, the eye network completely dominated the night. Overall, it earned a 2.7 18-49 rating and 10.85 million viewers, reports Hitfix. Big Bang roared back, scoring 18.9 million viewers and a 5.3 key demo rating. The Millers followed with 11.55 million viewers and a 2.9 18-49 rating, while The Crazy Ones had 8.24 million viewers and just a 2.0. Two and a Half Men had 8.5 million viewers and a 2.1 18-49 rating. CBS completed its full sweep with elementary, which scored 8.9 million viewers and a 1.8 key demo rating.
ABC came in second in viewers with 4.42 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. A two-hour The Taste had 4.7 million viewers and a 1.2 18-49 rating, falling 43 percent from last year, reports TheWrap.
The network finished the night with a new show called The Assets, which garnered just 3.8 million viewers and a 0.7 18-49 rating. Deadline notes that the eight-episode show has been re-classified as a mini-series, so ABC already knows that it’s not going to last long.
Fans of Community might have been excited to see creator Dan Harmon back running the show, but that didn’t mean anyone else was. NBC only had 3.34 million viewers and a 1.1 18-49 rating on the night. Community’s one-hour premiere had just 3.4 million viewers and a 1.3 key demo rating, the lowest premiere for the show.
Sean Saves The World and The Michael J. Fox Show both hit series lows with 0.8 18-49 ratings for each. Parenthood ended the night with 4 million viewers and a 1.3 18-49 rating.
The CW and Fox both ran repeats.
