Longtime guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks make 2014 their last year with the iconic Allman Brothers Band, leaving an enormous gap in that will be hard to fill.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Haynes, who has been with the band for 25 years, and Trucks, 15 years, are leaving the 45 year old group to focus on their own bands. The gap they leave is a highlight of the Allman Brothers live shows, exchanging riffs built by the late Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, the latter fired from the group in 2000.

Derek Trucks will put his focus on his own band, The Derek Trucks band, and also has the Tedeschi Trucks Band with his wife singer Susan Tedeschi. Warren Haynes will focus his attention on his band Gov’t Mule, which he formed back in 1994, which he once focused full time on when he left the Allman Brothers Band in 1997.

Gregg Allman has been making news of his own recently with a movie coming out based on his memoir My Cross To Bear, currently titled Midnight Rider. Actors Tyson Ritter and William Hurt are set to play Allman. The film will focus on Gregg Allman’s early struggles forming the Allman Brothers Band and the success they had through the 1970’s as well as Allman’s life toward current times at 64. Production is set to start in February.
