It is well known that Martin Scorsese’s original cut of The Wolf of Wall Street originally ran four hours, but there were reasons to be sceptical about whether audiences would ever get to see that version. However, the film’s producers say that the home video release may include the four-hour cut with even more explicit footage.
Producers Joey McFarland and Riza Aziz told The Daily Mail that the extra 60 minutes will be included on the Blu-ray and DVD release. The extended version will have even more f-bombs than the record 506 heard in the 179-minute theatrical cut.
“I think we are going to have some good surprises to be honest with you the movie is not much different in its longer form, it's just longer versions of scenes,” McFarland told the site during the Directors Guild Awards this weekend, notes Collider. “Nothing really got cut out so it's a lot more of what you've already seen.”
The Wolf of Wall Street is up for five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Best Director (Scorsese). McFarland is considered one of the producers on the film and would receive an Oscar if it wins Best Picture. The film tells the story of Jordan Belfort, who took Wall Street by storm with illegal activities before running into the government.
