Tragedy struck the crew filming Midnight Rider: The Gregg Allman Story, the biopic about singer, Gregg Allman.

A 27 year-old woman working on the crew of the film was killed while working on the project. So far, her name has not yet been released. According to Deadline, Detective Joe Gardner of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department said that the crew was filming a scene in Jesup, GA.

According to Connect Savannah, the accident happened after the crew members placed a mattress on the train tracks for a dream sequence. They were expecting two trains on the local bridge, but a third train arrived unexpectedly. This gave the crew less than a minute to act. Several crew members were injured. Many of them were hires from Georgia.

According to The Wrap, the train operator CSX said in a statement, “CSX is deeply saddened by a tragedy that occurred late today on a CSX rail bridge in Doctortown, Ga., and is cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate. Initial reports indicate that at least three people were injured, one fatally. CSX personnel are working with first responders to meet the needs of those injured. A train was en route from Memphis to Savannah when the incident occurred.”

The biopic on Gregg Allman details the singer’s life and rise to fame. William Hurt will be playing Allman in the movie. It recently announced that several performers were added to the cast.
