Daft Punk, known for their sleek, electronic sounds, boasted increased album sales for their latest effort, Random Access Memories.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, Daft Punk’s album sales rose 300% to 30,000 units for the weekend that ended Sunday, according to the LA Times.
That is an enormous jump and great news for the French pop stars. Fans have also been quick to stream their latest tunes. Streams of Daft Punk songs increased by 205%, according to the Daily Mail.
Daft Punk are Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo. They are known for their French house music. Their new look at the Grammy Awards included shiny, robot-like helmets. Their other albums include Discovery and Human After All.
Daft Punk has had a great year with four Grammy wins. Their Random Access Memories won for Album of the Year and Best Dance/ Electronica Album. They also won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of the Year for “Get Lucky.” They also made an excellent showing at the MTV Video Music Awards, taking home an award for Best Song of the Summer for “Get Lucky” with Pharrell Williams. It was recently announced that Pharrell Williams will be singing at the Academy Awards.
