Marie Carey reveals that she should have been a mentor instead of a judge.

Wenn reveals that she believes she should have been an American Idol mentor instead of a judge.

The singer spoke to New York radio station Z100 about anting to be a mentor, and that she had the wrong job.

"I should've been a mentor on the show and that's it," Carey said. "I Should have been the Jimmy Iovine."

Iovine, was an Idol mentor from 2011-2013.

Carey received a lot of attention from her feud with co-judge Nicki Minaj. She explained that the show felt more like a reality show than a singing competition.

"I felt that going into the direction of making it a 'reality show' isn't what I signed up for," Carey added. "The real Mariah was so not there."

MTV reports that Carey is currently getting ready to release a new album. This will be her 14th studio album, the last, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, released in 2009.

The untitled album is set to release May 6. Carey teamed up with Jermaine Dupri and producer Hit Boy.

"#Beautiful" (ft. Miguel), and "The Art of Letting Go" have already been released as singles. Carey is still working on the title.
