After an absence of two months without an executive director, the San Francisco Film Society names former Toronto Film Festival art director Noah Cowan in the position.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Cowen will take over the executive director position on March 3. The former executive Ted Hope left in December of 2013, and the position since has been vacant. This position also oversees the San Francisco International Film Festival as well.
"The board and staff of the San Francisco Film Society are thrilled to have Noah Cowan join us to lead this organization into the future," David Winton, SFFS board president said. He went on discussing his past knowledge and experience with the Toronto Film Festival will be an invaluable asset overseeing San Francisco’s annual festival.
The San Francisco International Film Festival boasts an impressive line-up every year, and have given awards to some of Hollywood’s elite including Oliver Stone, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Robert Duvall, and San Francisco Bay Area natives Francis Ford Coppola and Robin Williams.
The 57th annual San Francisco International Film Festival runs April 24 through May 8, with award recipients and films announced at the end of February.
