A rare and valuable violin has been found unharmed after being stolen late last month.
The Stradivarius violin was made in 1715, making it 300 years old and extremely rare. Fox 6 Now in Milwaukee reports that the $5 million dollar violin was stolen from Concertmaster violinist Frank Almond of the Milwaukee Symphony as he was leaving a performance at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Almond was reportedly tasered by a male and a female suspect who then snatched the violin and ran.
In a press conference today, police officials identified two of the suspects in the theft. The first suspect is Universal Knowledge Allah, 36, who is also suspected of purchasing the Taser used in the robbery, reports Fox 6 Now . The second and primary suspect is a man named Salah Ibin Jones, age 41. The police are still on the hunt for the female suspect. Police officials also announced that the violin had been found in the attic of house in Milwaukee's Bay Area.
The Stradivarius violin is also known as the Lipinski Strad after one of its previous owners, reports The New York Times . A $100,000 dollar reward was offered for the return of the violin. It is unclear if the anonymous tipper will be able to collect any reward for their help in solving the case.
Frank Almond, Concertmaster, has issued this statement to Fox 6 Now about the discovery of the prized violin: "I could not have imagined a better outcome for this particular chapter in the violin’s life and look forward to having it in my hands as soon as possible."
