Actor Vincent D’Onofrio has reportedly agreed to star as the villain in Jurassic World, the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise.
The former Law & Order: Criminal Intent star’s role has not been revealed, as the film’s plot has been a closely guarded secret. The news was first reported by Deadline and also reported by Variety.
Chris Pratt is reportedly signed for the lead role. The Guardians of the Galaxy star has been linked to the film since November and has dropped hints about his involvement while promoting The LEGO Movie.
“[Director] Colin [Trevorrow] did a great job of writing it and justifying it, in his own way having fun with,” he said in an MTV News interview. “Anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused, the way I was, about how they answered it.”
This is Trevorrow’s first big project as his only previous franchise experience is the indie comedy Safety Not Guaranteed. Other members of the cast for the film include Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson. Trevorrow wrote the script with Derek Connolly. Filming is expected to start soon, as Universal hopes to release the film in June 2015.
Trevorrow hasn’t tweeted since Feb. 6, when he announced that he’ll be making the film with cinematographer John Schwartzman and will be shooting on 35mm and 65mm film.
D'Onofrio recently made The Judge with Robert Downey Jr. and played Detective Goren on Law & Order: CI.
