Wife of Tennessee lawyer who died from mail bomb explosion dies days later due to injuries

The wife of retired Tennessee lawyer, John Setzer, died this week after her husband was killed by a mail bomb detonating outside of their home. Marion Setzer was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital on Wednesday night and he died on Monday night.

Marion, 72, passed away from the injuries she sustained in the explosion just days after her husband, 74, died almost instantaneously.

Tennessee’s WTVF reported the deadly package was sent to the Setzers’ home in Lebanon and John, who was plagued with health problems, opened it around 5pm about 200 yards from their house.

Investigators did say they found a note that came with the bomb, but wouldn’t divulge any information about it, CNN reports.

Family friend, Ken Caldwell, told WTVF, "It doesn't make sense at all. When I've heard it said that it was targeted, I thought, well, they must have targeted the wrong person."

An $8,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information about this attack. Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan said in a statement, "We're asking the general public if anyone receives any type of package with suspicious circumstances, please contact their local law enforcement jurisdiction.”
