Mr. Peabody & Sherman are a box office smash hit, taking the No. 1 slot last week.
According to the Associated Press, the Dream Works animated film earned $21.2 million, according to estimates from the studio.
The animated feature centers on the time-telling adventures of a dog and an adopted son. It was written by Jay Ward and Craig Wright, with additional dialogue from Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon. It was directed by Rob Minkoff and stars Ty Burrell, Max Charles, and Stephen Colbert.
The number two slot goes to goes to the Warner Bros. drama, 300: Rise of an Empire, which had a stunning debut last week at number one. Other films are not far behind with Need for Speed directed by Scott Waugh. Need for Speed had a great opening weekend, and might take the top slot on St. Patrick’s Day, according to Variety. Other box office favorites, at this point, are Veronica Mars and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
