A woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of her husband last year by lacing his liquid steroids with antifreeze Thursday.
Jamie L. Baker, 44, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon on March 13. Her husband, James D. Baker II, was found dead in his bedroom last year. The Examiner reports that the autopsy determined that his kidney’s had antifreeze chemicals in them, causing his death.
Having chemicals of antifreeze in one’s system causes ethylene glycol to crystalize in the kidneys and can eventually cause death. Baker II’s death had been ruled homicide by poisoning. Police had initially found syringes and liquid steroids in the home. Police also said that they were able to find that James Baker II had ordered them online.
According to Fox News, police had searched the family’s home on Thursday when Jamie Baker confessed to the police that she used a syringe filled with antifreeze and had injected it into her husband’s liquid steroids.
Baker is currently awaiting her court date.
