Police say an elementary school principle is one of 14 arrested in an undercover sex-sting operation conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, John McGill, a Douglas County elementary school principal, was arrested and charged with trying to have sex with a child. He is set to go before a judge on Tuesday afternoon.
CNN, noted that the 56-year-old has been suspended pending the state investigation.
"I was notified that Mt. Carmel Elementary School Principal John McGill was arrested this weekend and is under investigation," said Douglas County School Superintendent Gordon Pritz.
Over a dozen other grown men were arrested for allegedly trying to have sex with children including an ambulance driver, an engineer, a software developer and a grocery store employee.
McGill is in custody waiting to go before the judge and has hired an attorney to accompany him to this week’s court appearance.
It was not immediately known if the other men being held had attorneys or not.
