Lorde can add another music legend to her legion of fans after Krist Novoselic, bassist and founding member of Nirvana, covered her song "Royals" on accordion.
According to Maryland's Gazette the performance took place at an event for voting reform held at a restaurant called Republic in Takoma Park, MD. This was about two weeks after Bruce Springsteen's cover of the song in New Zealand, which Lorde said made her cry.
Novoselic, who has been heavily involved in politics since Nirvana, was at the event to support the voting reform non-profit FairVote, of which Novoselic is on the board of directors. He played the song along with the band The Coward Choir.
Rolling Stone notes that Novoselic has been at the accordion for some time. He played the instrument on "I Should Have Known" from the Foo Fighters 2011 album Wasting Light and was given one by Kurt Cobain, which Novoselic used to learn "Light My Fire" by the Doors.
Lorde is currently touring the United States in support of her album Pure Heroine.
