The story of Kurt Cobain will be brought back to life and told through the pages of a new print and digital comic book, due to hit the public on April 2nd—a few days before the Nirvana frontman's death.
Jayfri Hashim, writer for the Cobain comic is also part of Blue Water Productions’ “Tribute” series which already had the pleasure of narrating the lives and stories of Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Jim Morrison and Keith Richards. Future comics are in talks for Freddie Mercury and Monty Python members.
Cobain’s comic will focus on his early music career and fast rise to fame and fortune, which ultimately caused him mental and emotional conflict.
"Not only is this a great way to understand the importance of his contribution to music, but it is a great tool for kids to read about him in a different medium," said Darren G. David, Blue Water of Cobain's Tribute comic, according to Rolling Stone. "Our biography comic books are now taught in schools and libraries for students and reluctant readers."
Pre-orders are available for physical copies of ‘Tribute: Kurt Cobain” at Comic Flea Market for just $3.99. The comic website also allows you to peak at a few pages. Digital copies will soon be available through iTunes, Kindle, Google Play, Nook, Wowio, ComiXology and more, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
This only adds to the plethora of Nirvana news that’s been circulating and most definitely is more flattering than his doppelganger in the new Dutch beer ad. Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Kiss, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, Peter Gabriel and Linda Ronstadt at the Brooklyn Barclay’s Center on April 10th.
