In light of the recent mysterious tragedy regarding the lost Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, Arclight Films has decided to put production of their film Deep Water on hold due to some uncanny similarities between the plot line of the film and the real-life disappearance of flight MH370.
Deep Water is a prequel to horror film, Bait 3D , and will feature a story line about group of passengers who survive a plane crash in the Pacific Ocean on their way to Beijing.
According to The Guardian, although the film primarily focuses on scary shark attacks, the similarity of the plane crashes in the movie and in real life are too closely relatable. The Guardian also reported that filmmaker Alister Grierson said, "The similarities and timing is interesting and I can see why anecdotally the two things link up. It's a tricky thing.”
With the most recent information just being released that news sources have confirmed that there are most likely no survivors and that flight MH370 had crashed somewhere in the Indian Ocean, Arclight Films has delayed production of their film out of sensitivity for the families of the lost passengers.
Deadline reported that Arclight Managing Director Gary Hamilton said in reference to the film,“Out of sensitivity to the Malaysia flight situation, we’ve decided to put it on pause for now.”
